The Commission had conducted Tier-II Examination of CGLE, 2017 from 17.2.2018 to 22.2.2018 across the country. On 21.2.2018, due to incomplete downloading of data on account of some technical reasons, the examination was delayed and candidates faced inconveniences.

The Commission after detailed consultations with all its 09 Regional / Sub-Regional Offices and based on the inputs provided by them and also representations received from some candidates, the Commission has taken a considered decision in the interest of the candidates, to re-conduct Paper-I i.e. Quantitative Ability, on 9.3.2018 at 10.30 AM. The details of the venue of the examination will be uploaded on the respective regional websites.


It may, however, be noted that the re-examination would be conducted for only those candidates who had actually appeared for Paper-I Examination on 21.2.2018 at their designated venues of examination. However, at one venue in Patna i.e. Cyber City, the reexamination will be conducted for Paper-I as well as Paper-II, on the same day.

The Staff Selection Commission will hold an open competitive Computer Based Examination for Recruitment of Stenographer Grade „C‟ (Group „B‟ Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade „D‟(Group „C‟ Non-Gazetted) in the month of September 2017.

 Candidates having required skills in stenography as explained in Para 12 (2) only need to apply. Admission Certificates for the computer based examination not be issued to the candidates who declare in their Application that they do not possess skills in Stenography.

 Vacancies: Vacancies will be determined in due course. (a) Vacancies of Stenographer Grade „C‟ and Stenographers Grade „D‟ are in Ministries/Departments of Central Government, including their Attached/Subordinate offices located in States and Union Territories all over the country.

The facility of on-line application will be available from 17-06-2017 to 15-07-2017 (upto 5.00PM). However, candidates who wish to make the payment through challan of SBI, may make the payment to designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank upto 18-07-2017 provided the challan has been generated by them before 5.00 PM on 15-07-2017. 

Scheme of Examination:

Question paper will be of Objective Multiple choice type. Questions will be set in Hindi and English except Part-III.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the question

 An Examination will be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on 10th September, 2017 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 140th Course, and for the 102nd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 2nd July, 2018. 

The date of holding the examination as mentioned above is liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission. The approximate number of vacancies to be filled on the results of this examination will be as under :—

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for interview/Personality Test.

Educational Qualifications: (i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy :—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University. (ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy :—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination. Such candidates who qualify the SSB interview but could not produce Matriculation/10+2 or equivalent certificate in original at the time of SSB interview should forward duly self attested Photocopies to ‘Directorate General of Recruiting, Army HQ, West Block.III, R.K. Puram, New Delhi- 110066’ and for Naval Academy candidates to ‘Naval Headquarters, DMPR, OI&R Section, Room No. 204, ‘C’ Wing, Sena Bhavan, New Delhi-110011’ by 24th June, 2018 failing which their candidature will be cancelled. All other candidates who have produced their Matriculation and 10+2 pass or equivalent certificates in original at the time of attending the SSB interview and have got the same verified by the SSB authorities are not required to submit the same to Army HQ or Naval HQ as the case may be. COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST AND GEOLOGIST EXAMINATION, 2017 

The Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination-2017 will be held on 12.05.2017, 13.05.2017 and 14.05.2017. Examination on 12th & 13th May, 2017 will be held in two sessions and each session will be of three hours duration. On 14.05.2017 there is only one session in the morning i.e. 9.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon.  

The examination shall be conducted according to the following Plan : 

Part I. - Written examination in the subjects as set out in para 2 below. 

Part II. - Interview/ Personality Test of such candidates as may be called by the Commission, carrying a maximum of 200 marks. 

2. The following will be the subjects for the written examination, for selection to the post of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist Group 'A' in GSI and Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist 'B'), Group 'A' for Central Ground Water Board. .All Question papers must be answered in English. The Question Papers will be set in English only. 

.The standard and syllabus of the examination will be as shown in the Schedule. 

. Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances they will be allowed the help of scribe to write answers for them. However, blind candidates and the candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy where dominant ( writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment) will be allowed to write Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination with the help of a scribe Compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour shall be permitted for the Blind candidates and the candidates with locomotor disability and cerebral palsy where dominant (writing extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment) will also be allowed in the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination.

 The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects of the examination. 

. If a candidate's handwriting is not easily legible, deduction will be made on this account from the total marks otherwise accruing to him/her.

  Marks will not be allotted for mere superficial knowledge.

 10. Credit will be given for orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words in all subjects of the examination. 


. In the question papers wherever necessary, questions involving the Metric System of Weights and Measures only will be set.

Candidates should use only International form of Indian numerals (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc) while answering question papers. 13. Candidates are permitted to bring and use battery operated pocket calculators for answering papers in this examination. Loaning or inter-changing of calculators in the Examination Hall is not permitted. Interview/Personality Test : The candidate will be interviewed by a Board of competent and unbiased observers who will have before them a record of his/ her career. The object of the interview is to assess his/her suitability for the posts for which he/she has competed. Special attention will be paid in the Personality Test to assessing the candidate's capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application, integrity of character and aptitude for adapting themselves to the field life.

A paper in General English is compulsory and common for all the four categories and its standard will be such as may be expected of a science graduate. 3 compulsory papers each on Geology Geophysics, Chemistry and Hydrogeology subjects will be approximately of the M.Sc. degree standard of an Indian University and questions will generally be set to test the candidate's grasp of the fundamentals in each subject.
